Delete your account

You can delete your Joontos account at any time. It's permanent, and it's real — your account is removed, not hidden or paused.

There are two ways to do it.

If you still have the app

This is the fastest way, and it happens immediately.

Open Joontos.
Go to the Me tab.
Tap Delete my account.
Read what's about to be removed, type DELETE to confirm, and tap the button.

That's it. Your account is gone by the time the screen closes.

If you've already uninstalled the app

Email us at info@ridejoontos.com from the email address on your Joontos account, with the subject line Delete my account.

We'll confirm it's you, delete the account, and email you back to say it's done. We do this within 7 days, and always within 30.

We only ask that you write from the account's own email address — that's how we know we're not deleting someone else's account for them.

What gets deleted

Everything below is permanently removed:

Your login and password
Your first name, profile photo, and language settings
Your car description and licence plate
Your social media handles and your payment handles (Venmo, Cash App, PayPal, Zelle)
Every trip you've posted
Every carpool agreement you were part of
Your ride history and the cost splits attached to it
All of your chat messages
Ratings you gave and ratings you received
Anyone you had blocked

Your email address becomes free to use again. You will not be able to sign back in, and nothing can be restored afterward — not by you and not by us.

One thing worth knowing: deleting your account also removes your shared history from the other person's app. The rides you took together and the messages you exchanged disappear from their side too. That's the honest meaning of "delete my account," but it surprises people, so we'd rather say it here.

What is kept, and why

Safety reports. If another person reported you, a copy of that report is kept in a separate, administrator-only record before your account is removed.

We do this so that nobody can erase a harassment report by deleting their account. That record holds the reason for the report and when it was made. It is never shown to another user, and it is never used for anything except keeping people safe on Joontos.

Nothing else about you is kept.

One thing can hold up deletion

Joontos never touches your money — it only keeps count of a fair split so two neighbors know where they stand. That means a balance in the app is a real debt between two real people.

So if you have a split you haven't yet marked as settled, the app will ask you to mark your side before you delete. It takes one tap.

You're only ever held to your own half. Once you've marked your side, you can delete your account, whatever the other person does or doesn't do.
